How to Build a Projector Screen

LCD and Plasma TVs are getting bigger and costing less. Still, inch for inch, a digital projector probably gives the most for your money. If you plan to bounce your favorite show or sporting event off of a painted wall in the den, you won't get the results you are looking for. You need a projector screen. Here is how to make one yourself.

      Cut two of the wood boards to 55 1/4 inches and the other two to 93 1/2 inches. Cut the ends of each board to a 45-degree angle. These pieces will become the frame.

      Hold the frame sections together. Use one L-bracket at each corner, and connect them to the wood with six screws using the holes in the L-brackets.

      Roll out the seamless paper, and lay it over the frame. Staple the end of the paper into place along the frame.

      Maintain tension on the paper to pull out any creases or wrinkles, and staple it along the edges of the frame. Use one staple every 6 to 9 inches.

Tips & Warnings

  • For a black frame, choose a black fabric such as Velveteen over black paint.
