It is so much fun to watch squirrels as the run and play from tree to tree. Sometimes there is a problem with the squirrels invading bird feeders. However, if you make the squirrels their own feeder, they will tend to ignore the bird feeders as they have so much fun with this quick and easy-spinning squirrel feeder.

It only takes about 30 minutes to make, so you can make one as soon as you read this and be watching the squirrels in no time.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 1-foot long 1-by-2-inch boards Hammer 4 large nails 1 very large nail 2 pinecones dipped in syrup and coated with birdseed 2 corncobs
  1. Step 1

Nail one nail approximately 1 inch from the ends of each board. Place the two lengths of board cross ways to make an X with the sharp points of the nails pointing upwards.

  2. Step 2

Hammer the large nail directly into the middle of the X and into the side of the tree. Make sure the trunk of the tree is fairly straight to ensure the boards will spin freely.

  3. Step 3

Take one pinecone and place onto the exposed nail. Next place a corncob on the next exposed nail.
Repeat this until you have a pinecone, corncob, pinecone and corncob.

  4. Step 4

As the squirrels race down to the pinecones and corncobs, the wood will slowly start to turn and the squirrels will have a busy time running back and forth to each end.

These are so much fun to watch. Don't worry, the squirrels will definitely get to eat.
