Balloons are more than just fun little objects children play with. They can be great decorative items as well. Balloon arches can set the mood and tone of an event. They're easy to make and relatively inexpensive. A double arch allows you to add more decor and play with the color scheme or patterns. Add some spice to your next party with a double balloon arch.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Balloons Helium tank Ribbon Scissors Measuring tape Paper Writing instrument
  1. Step 1

Decide where the balloon arch will be attached and displayed. Measure the distance between the two pillars, walls or other structures to which the ends will be attached. Draw out your design on paper, marking what color each section of balloons is to be or what the pattern will be.

  2. Step 2

Unroll a section of ribbon. Start with the top arch. Measure out enough ribbon for one and a half to two times the length of the area where the arches will be. If you want a high arch, go for closer to two times the length. If you want a softer arch, then go for closer to one and a half times the length.

  3. Step 3

Blow up a few balloons and tie them. Then tie the ribbon to the balloons in the order they should appear. Start the first balloon tie one foot inward. Leave at least a few inches in between each balloon. Continue to inflate balloons and tie onto the ribbon until you have a ribbon full of balloons from end to end.

  4. Step 4

Unroll ribbon for the lower arch. It should be 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 times longer than the length you measured for the room. Inflate and tie the balloons onto the ribbon as you did before. Leave one foot on each side.

  5. Step 5

Begin with the top arch. Have one person hold one end and someone else the other end. Tie the ends to the predetermined wall, structure or other area. Have them tie at the same time so one end doesn't float up and become difficult to get back down. Then tie the lower arch directly below the first, onto the same structure or wall space as the first. You now have a beautiful double arch to admire.

Tips & Warnings
  • Design your color scheme or pattern before you start inflating the balloons.
  • Don't allow the second arch to reach too close to the ceiling.
