- Oxalic acid (wood bleach) Rubber sponge or nylon brush Fine grit sandpaper

Purchase oxalic acid, also called wood bleach, from a local home improvement store.

Apply the wood bleach to the stain with a rubber sponge or nylon brush.

Allow the wood bleach to sit on the stain for five minutes.

Apply the second coat of wood bleach with a separate rubber sponge or nylon brush.

Sand the area, once the wood bleach is completely dry, with a piece of fine grit sandpaper to remove any residue.
