How to Perform Billet Reading

Developed as an honesty test during the rise of Spiritualism in the mid-19th century, psychics, clairvoyants and mediums all claimed to billet read or "mindread" information on slips of paper.
Billet reading, like many psychic skills, can be accurate and practiced anywhere. It lends itself best to groups gathered specifically for the purpose of psychic connection or energy work.

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper Pen A large or small group of people A quiet space
  1. Step 1

Gather a circle of like-minded individuals willing to participate in psychic energy work. A group that takes billet reading seriously will be better able to focus and raise the energy of the group. The formalities of the billet---size of the paper, folded or not, sealed in an envelope---are not important.

  2. Step 2

Have everyone in the circle write something on a slip of paper, fold it, and put it into a container.

  3. Step 3

After everyone has put a slip into the container, pass it again, allowing each person to take one slip.

  4. Step 4

Still your mind. Breathe deeply, in through the nose and out through the mouth, with closed eyes.

  5. Step 5

Keep breathing deeply as you focus on one individual at a time.

  6. Step 6

Eventually, as your mind stills, you will hear, see, or sense ideas, words, and images. This highly focused information isn't magic or guesswork; it's the body's energy systems at work, bringing you into alignment with intuition, something that we often ignore in our busy daily lives.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can strengthen psychic ability without paper slips or even a group. Choose a friend with whom you are close and practice on the phone---what color are they wearing? In what room are they sitting? What's in front of them at that moment? Concentrate on seeing specific details you don't otherwise know. When you swap turns, focus intently on the intention. If they are trying to guess what color you are wearing, see that color in your mind's eye, letting it drench your thoughts.
