Online GED

It is possible to use the web to find General Education Diploma (GED) resource materials, participate in GED testing programs and complete GED practice tests, but it is not possible to take the test online. The GED must be administered and completed at one of the 3400 testing centers worldwide. Before signing up, learn the basic components of the test and prepare for your test date.

1. Obtain GED testing materials and practice tests from your high school administrator or online at the ACE GED Testing Service or Department of Education websites. Visit a local educational center for instruction. Additional resources are available at public libraries, book stores and community centers. Kaplan GED books and practice tests are available at Amazon, Borders and Barnes and Noble.

2. Enroll in an adult education GED program. Find and enroll in classes at an adult GED education center. Contact the National Institute for Literacy (NIFL) for a complete list of local programs.

3. Take an online GED course. Jefferson High School Online, Belford High School and Ashworth College offer online GED classes.

4. Find a local testing center and sign up for the GED test. Bring a driver's license, passport or state issued ID card to the test.
