There is no hiding camouflage. It can be found everywhere, from camo clothing to painting camouflage on a wall. Although the main function of camouflage is to conceal or hide something by blending it into the background, it is now used as an everyday adornment or common decor. Using your choice of paint colors, you can paint camouflage on any wall.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pencil 3 colors of paint Paint brush
  1. Step 1

Decide which wall will be painted camouflage. Something to keep in mind when choosing a wall is that camouflage can look very busy, so choose a small area to begin with and add to it as you wish.

  2. Step 2

Choose three colors of paint that you want to use. The traditional camouflage colors are olive green, tan and black or tan, brown and black but you can use any colors. You might choose pink, white and gray to soften the camo for a girl's room or go with blue, white and gray for an Indianapolis Colts fan.

  3. Step 3

Draw a camouflage pattern on the wall lightly with a pencil. There are no special directions for camouflage, just draw different shapes and sizes. If you do not feel comfortable drawing the shapes freehand, you could purchase a stencil from your local craft store, find a book of camouflage patterns at your local library or bookstore, or use a picture or article of clothing as your inspiration.

  4. Step 4

Begin with the lightest paint. Dip the tip of the paint brush into the paint and randomly color in some of the drawn camouflage shapes. Remember, don't get too caught up in staying inside the lines. You still have two more colors of paint to go before this project is finished. Let the paint dry thoroughly.

  5. Step 5

Open the medium-colored paint. Dip the end of the paint brush into the paint and randomly color in some more of the drawn camouflage shapes. Make sure you connect this color with some of the lighter color. Let the paint dry thoroughly.

  6. Step 6
Paint a camouflage wall using black, white and gray.
Paint a camouflage wall using black, white and gray.

Add the dark paint to the remaining shapes in the same manner as above, connecting this color with both the lighter and medium colors. Because this paint is darker it will easily cover any mistakes.

  7. Step 7

Evaluate your camouflage wall. Change the pattern up by extending the shape or size using paint or add light, medium or darker paint as you desire.

Tips & Warnings
  • Camouflage can be very overpowering when painted in a large area. Wash brushes thoroughly before switching colors.
  • Avoid touch-ups by starting with the lightest paint first, the medium-color second and the darkest last.
