How to Fix a Broken Bike Chain

      Locate the broken link in the chain.

      Using the chain tool, remove the remaining pin in the link.

      Get new link ready for installation.

    • 4

      Insert the new link with the posts into the spot where the old link was and top with the link cap.

    • 5

      Slide the link clip over the top of the cap until it clicks and your chain will be as good as new.

Tips & Warnings

  • In some cases this can actually improve a stock bicycle, most of which do not come with a removable chain.
