How to Build Plastic Model Cars

Building model cars is fun for all ages. Model kits are available for all skill levels and represent cars and trucks from the 1920s to present day.

Things You'll Need

• Model kit Glue Paint Small, sharp knife

Instructions

1. 

   Locate the direction sheet in your kit. Compare the pieces in the kit to the direction steps and determine if any are missing.

2. 

   Remove pieces from the trees and trim the casting sprues off with a sharp knife. Be careful not to cut off any locating pins.

3. 

   Paint the larger pieces with spray paint.

4. 

   Paint the smaller pieces with a small brush. Use realistic colors.

5. Allow the painted parts to dry completely, such as overnight.

6. 

   Follow the steps in the direction sheet and assemble the parts in order.

7. Use only enough glue to stick the parts together. Too much glue will make your model look unrealistic.

8. 

   Align all pieces carefully. Do not force fit.

9. 

   Now your model is complete.

• Protect your work area from paint and glue. Always work in a well-ventilated area.
