With concerns over the safety and purity of tap water, as well as the long-term ecological impact of bottled water, many people are turning to the convenience of a whole house water filtration system. While this is indeed an economical and environmentally responsible alternative, your water filtration system is only as good as your filter, and filters do on occasion need changing. Follow a few steps to change the water filter for a Kenmore brand whole house water filtration system, which mirror quite closely the instructions to change a filter on any home filtration system.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Replacement filter Bucket Towel
  1. Step 1

Locate the water supply shutoff connected to your filtration system. Turn the valve to the "Off" position, cutting off the water supply to the filter.

  2. Step 2

Place your bucket below the filter casing to catch any water that may inadvertently spill when you remove the filter from the casing.

  3. Step 3

Carefully unscrew the clear plastic casing from the upper black bracket. Tip the casing into the bucket, emptying the excess water. Remove and discard the used filter.

  4. Step 4

Remove your replacement filter from its packaging and insert it into the clear plastic casing. Place the casing and filter under the black plastic bracket, and screw the casing back into place.

  5. Step 5

Turn the water valve back to the "On" position, restoring the flow of water to the filtration system. Use a towel to mop up any of the excess water that may have spilled.
