How to Track Kids With GPS
GPS stands for Global Positioning System. This technology has many uses. One of the most interesting uses for parents is the possibility of keeping track of children using GPS technology.
GPS devices can be small and may be clipped to the child, placed in a backpack, embedded in a shoe or worn like a watch. The GPS unit will then provide information to the parent via a tracking service that sends reports to a personal computer. GPS devices can also be installed in automobiles to keep track of teen drivers.
The tracking systems can be set up to provide updates to the parents based on the preferences they set with the service.

1
Use a small GPS device for a young child. This could be in the form of a watch or perhaps a unit that is kept in a backpack. Typically a small GPS unit is powered by batteries and needs to be recharged every 24 hours. For longer transmitting times, it will be necessary to purchase a larger unit. Many of these units need to be recharged every two weeks.

Use a GPS device that works with an automobile for a teen driver. Many of these GPS devices help parents monitor a teen's driving behavior as well as their physical location.

Consider the service Teensurance for monitoring a teenager. This service allows a parent to monitor a teen through immediate notifications that the parent customizes.
Other features of this service are a remote unlocking capability if the teen is locked out of the vehicle, alerts for excessive speeds in the car, safe driving zones and curfew reminders.

Another service to consider for monitoring your teenager is Trimtrac Pro. This service allows a parent fast tracking capabilities. This device also is able to conserve battery power by powering on only when the vehicle starts and stops.

As more and more GPS built-in cellphones are available. Tracking kids with their cell phone is another option. For example, several models of BlackBerry have GPS built-in and a few excellent tracking applications are available. Personally I prefer GuardianWare BlackBerry because I can get notified when my kids leave or reach their schools.
