How to Transfer Photos to a Memory Stick on Windows XP

Transferring photos from your personal computer to a memory stick allows you to view the images on any computer or media device that is equipped with a USB or memory card port. These instructions are specific to the Windows XP operating system.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer Memory stick Memory stick reader
  1. Step 1

    Insert the memory stick into a compatible memory stick reader.

  2. Step 2

    Plug the memory stick reader, with the memory stick inserted into it, into the computer's USB port.

  3. Step 3

    After a moment, a screen that says "Removable Disk" will pop up and prompt you to take an action. Click on "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer." This will open the folders on the memory stick.

  4. Step 4

    Select and open the folder where your photos are stored.

  5. Step 5

    With the memory stick folder and the photo folder open simultaneously, use the mouse to click-and-drag the photos to the memory stick folder.

  6. Step 6

    Close all folders and remove the memory stick reader from the USB port.

  7. Step 7

    To ensure that your photos have been transferred, plug the memory stick back into the USB port. When the "Removable Disk" screen pops up, select "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer." Once you see the photos on the memory stick folder, you can close the folder and remove the memory stick reader from the USB port.
