You can add fun to your next party by setting up a photo booth in your home. A home photo booth can capture fun memories of your family and friends. There is something about a photo booth that lets people cut loose and have fun, and it shows in the pictures. Building a home photo booth can be fun for both adults and children. Adults can be a little more risqué in their home photo booth than in a public one.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • L-shaped curtain rod Dark curtains Fabric for background Hammer Tacks Chair or a bench to sit on Small table Digital camera with a timer Lamp Digital camera printer with a docking station
  1. Step 1

Pick your location. The photo booth should be out of the main walkways of your home to allow for some additional privacy. Try to avoid having a direct overhead light because it can be unflattering in pictures. A corner works really well and makes it easier to hang curtains.

  2. Step 2

Attach the curtain rod to the wall so that you can hang the curtains to cover the front and side of the photo booth. Be sure to leave at least 3.5 feet of space on each side. Hang your curtains, making sure there are no gaps people can peek through.

  3. Step 3

Hang the fabric for the background up on the back wall using tacks. Be sure that the tacks are not showing and the fabric covers the entire background.

  4. Step 4

Position the chair against the back wall facing the front. Put the small table at the front of the photo booth inside the curtains. If the table isn't high enough, place books or blocks under it to adjust the height. Set the camera on top of the table facing the seat. Look through the viewfinder to make sure the camera is at the right height. Adjust as necessary.

  5. Step 5

Place the lamp next to but not in front of the camera. If there is enough light without the lamp, skip this step.

  6. Step 6

Set the digital timer on the camera and show people how to use it. Once they are done with the camera, show them how to use the printer to print out their pictures. Let them do it themselves so they can decide if they want to share or not. Set the camera back, and your home photo booth is ready to snap someone else's picture.

Tips & Warnings
  • To add some fun, place a small box filled with wacky hats and other props by the photo booth.
  • Have guests delete their pictures after they print them to avoid any embarrassing pics showing up online.
