Muriatic acid, more commonly called spirits of the salt in England, or hydrochloric acid in America, is highly corrosive. Muriatic acid can be created using sulfuric acid and common salt, but can be found naturally in gastric acid. When using muriatic acid, it is always good to have baking soda, sodium bicarbonate, nearby. Sodium bicarbonate neutralizes acids such as muriatic acid.
