How to Cast Net Shrimp

Make your bait. This is accomplished by mixing the fish meal and sheetrock mud at a 2/1 ratio. Once mixed, form into balls around softball size or 4 inches across. Make as many as possible, and put them into the bucket.

Find a suitable area to throw your net. Bays and bayous are generally the best for this. Make sure that the bottom is either sand or grass to prevent destroying your net.

Wade into the water and stick the poles into the ground at whatever distance apart the local laws say is legal. In Florida this is no further than 10 feet apart, and you are limited to 5 poles. These poles will serve as targets for throwing your net.

Place your bait out at the base of the poles and then wait. It is usually best to wait at least two hours to let the shrimp accumulate around the bait.

Throw your net at the base of the poles. When you pull the net up, it should be full of delicious shrimp. Dump them in your bucket and continue until you have thrown the net at all of the poles and collected all the shrimp you can.

Tips & Warnings
Night time is the right time. If you do go, remember that shrimp are nocturnal in nature, so the best time to go is in the evening.
