The note card holder

Organize your note cards with a handmade holder. Conserve space in a desk by recycling the boxes that come with store-bought cards. Or make holders to store cards that you made with your paper-making or stamping skills. These holders make it easy for you to give away to family and friends a stack of your own cards as gifts. Card holders also neaten up the package when you want to sell note cards online or at craft shows.

Find two envelopes that are the same size. You can use any size envelopes, as long as they are larger than the note cards you want to store. Start with plain envelopes if you intend on decorating the holder. Or use colorful and decorative envelopes to save time.

Open the flap of one envelope. Cut the flap off with a pair of scissors. Save the triangle paper scrap for a collage or another paper crafts project.

Open the flap on the second envelope. Turn the envelope so the pre-glued side of the flap is face down on the table. Apply glue or an adhesive to the outside of the flap, which is the side facing you.

Open the first envelope by pinching the sides. Slide the flap with the wet glue into the first envelope, until the triangle flap is all the way inside the envelope. Press down gently to secure the glue. Use a cloth to remove any excess glue if you put too much on the flap.

  5. Step 5

Place a ribbon or any type of decorative tie on the table. Set the holder on top of it. Fold the ribbon over the top of the holder, and bring both loose ends together. They should be even. Use glue to secure the ribbon to the front of the card.

Cut out an image that matches the note cards you will be putting inside. Or cut out a picture from a recycled card. Glue that on top of the ribbon on the front. Stick note cards in one flap and envelopes in the other. Tie the ribbon in a loose bow.
