How to Build a Free Website & Homepage

  1. Step 1

Enter the name Weebly into your search engine or just enter www.weebly.com into your address bar. This will take you to the free website builder Weebly. Weebly is a drag and drop website builder that anyone can use for free. The nice thing about using Weebly is that it will not clutter your page with advertising as many other free website builders tend to do.

  2. Step 2

Fill in the information to open a free account. All that is required to open an account is a valid email address. Enter your email address along with a username and password. Once you have done this, it will automatically create an account for you. If this is the first time you have used the program, it will instantly guide you through a tutorial.

  3. Step 3

Type in the name for your site in the site creation section. Utilize a name that is in line with what you want to get across. If this is a site for your business, then use your business name, or if it is a personal site, then use your name. Also be sure to add any other things that would help to describe what it is you want to get across. For instance, if you want a site that talks about your crafts then you could have the title such as "Cory's Crafts." Once you have selected a title, it will take you to the drag-and-drop wizard.

  4. Step 4

Select a design or theme for your site. At the top of the page, you will see a scrolling row with different designs. Choose a design that you like and click on it. The nice thing about this is that you can change the design any time you want. If you are not happy with the design once you are done, simply click and choose another one.

  5. Step 5

Look at the panels below the design section. Here you will find other elements to choose from. There will be such things labeled "Paragraph,""Photo" or "Title." Simply left click and hold on the element then drag it on to the page below where you want it to reside. The page you see below will automatically be your homepage or the first page that others see when they visit your site, so make sure it looks exactly how you want it to. If you want more pages, simply click on the "Add Page" section and add a new page and title it. Once you are done, you can publish your site.

  6. Step 6

Click on the "Publish" button at the top of the page and take note of the address of your site. This will be the address that you can give to others, and it will be your homepage as well. Once you have published your site, make sure to visit it to make sure there are no mistakes on the page or pages.
