Do you have dog that stays outside during the winter? If so, you may want to have a heated dog house. This will keep dogs safe from the winter weather while allowing you to keep your dog outside.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dog house Heater Straw Carpet Wood pallet
  1. Step 1

Find a dog house that is sturdy. The rounder shapes allow more stability than the square shapes.

  2. Step 2

Ensure the dog house is large enough for your dog to sleep comfortably.

  3. Step 3

Either purchase or build a door for the doghouse to protect the dog from the wind, rain and snow. Take some old carpet and staple it on your doghouse door if you want. The carpet is heavy enough to keep the wind, rain and snow out, but light enough to allow your dog in.

  4. Step 4

Take straw and put it into the wood pallet until there is a nice layer inside the wood pallet. This will allow extra warmth and protection for the dog house when the ground gets damp or frozen.

  5. Step 5

Place the wood pallet on the floor and set the dog house on the wood pallet.

  6. Step 6

Lay straw inside the dog house for the bedding. Ensure a thick layer to keep your dog warm.

  7. Step 7

Buy a heater that you can affix to the ceiling of your dog house. You can find this in a pet store.

Tips & Warnings
  • Outside dogs require different things. Be sure to keep fresh water out for them and, in winter, make certain that their water has not frozen.
