How to Make Corkboard Coasters

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Coaster pattern of your own design Sheet of thin corkboard Pieces of colored felt Pen Ruler Small hole punch White fabric glue Scissors
  1. Step 1

Create a simple pattern for your coasters. Draw it out on plain scratch paper or on a postcard you received and plan to discard. Use the bottom of a large glass or mug for circular patterns. Rectangles, squares and diamond shapes are easily created by using a ruler. Or choose a simple outline picture from a child's coloring book. Cut your paper pattern out with scissors.

  2. Step 2

Trace your pattern with a pen onto the corkboard and the pieces of felt that you wish to use.

  3. Step 3

Use the scissors to cut the traced shapes out of the corkboard and the felt.

  4. Step 4

Use the hole punch to clip decorative designs into the felt shapes.

  5. Step 5

Drop numerous dots of fabric glue onto a corkboard shape, paying special attention to the edges. Place a matching felt shape on top of the glue. Press the two surfaces together gently. Allow the glue to air dry thoroughly according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  6. Step 6

Use the scissors to trim up any uneven edges of felt or corkboard from your new coasters.
