How to Make an Organza Wedding Bow

Organza ribbon is a beautiful ribbon that is appropriate for all wedding bows. They work well when decorating the pews or seats at the ceremony. They are beautiful on corsages and in bridesmaids and the bridal bouquet. You can make a set of matching bows for a decoration for the doors of the church. Organza ribbon bows can be used on the cake knife and in various areas at the reception---almost anywhere you need an elegant organza bow.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 yards organza ribbon per bow Scissors
  1. Step 1
    Demo with acetate satin ribbon

    Cut a 10 to 14 inch piece of organza ribbon. Tie a single loose knot in the center. Set aside.

  2. Step 2

    Pick up the end of the organza ribbon. Measure 10 to 12 inches up from the end and pinch the ribbon between your thumb and forefinger.

    Make a loop with your free hand about 4 to 6 inches wide. Pinch and hold between your thumb and forefinger.

    Twist the ribbon at the pinched point and make a loop opposite the first loop. Pinch and hold.

    Continue twisting and forming loops until you have a series of eight loops.

  6. Step 6

    Pick up the knotted piece of organza ribbon. Drape it over the bow you are still holding in your hand. Arrange the knot at the center of the bow.

  7. Step 7

    Turn the bow over and pull the tails of the knotted piece up at each side.

  8. Step 8

    Firmly tie the two tails to secure the center of the bow. Double knot for added security.

  9. Step 9

    Cut the four tails of the bow at a slant or in a V notch.

Tips & Warnings
  • If this is your first attempt at tying bows, consider practicing with a less expensive ribbon before using your wedding organza ribbon. If this is a pew bow, tie a thick pony tail cloth covered elastic into the back when securing the bow. This can be placed over some pew ends or a pew bouquet holder.
