How to Install an HP Photosmart Printer Driver

HP Photosmart printers are built for printing high-quality photographs from digital files. With built-in card readers and a USB port, later models of the Photosmart printer series don't even require a computer to print. The printer driver is the software that tells your operating system how to interact with the printer. The driver is necessary to use the printer. Follow the steps below to install an HP Photosmart printer driver.

Instructions

1. Insert the Product CD that came with the HP PhotoSmart printer. If it doesn't load automatically, navigate to My Computer > CD Drive and double-click on the HP CD icon.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the HP Photosmart printer driver and any other software included on the CD to enhance printer functionality.

3. Download the driver from the HP support website (see Resources below). If you don't have the CD, you can download the printer driver from the HP site.

4. Navigate to HP support and enter the PhotoSmart model number. The model number should be displayed on the printer itself and on any documentation that came with it.

5. Download the printer driver to your desktop and double click to install it. Your HP PhotoSmart printer should now be ready to use.
