Taking some time to relax doesn't have to mean letting go of your fitness goals. Use these tips to find workout opportunities on vacation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Keep fitness in mind. As you plan your vacation schedule, pencil in time for regular exercise. If you're planning more strenuous activities that require you to be in better shape, increase the intensity of your workouts for several weeks before your vacation begins. You'll be less fatigued, and better prepared to avoid sports-related injuries.

  2. Step 2

Call ahead. If you're planning a hotel stay, ask what the available fitness options are.

  3. Step 3

Take advantage of the available facilities. Most hotels offer workout rooms with exercise equipment and a swimming pool. Resorts may offer backpacking, tennis, sailing, skiing, horseback riding and more.

  4. Step 4

Mix fun and fitness. Dancing, swimming, boating and other fun activities can give your great vacation memories and a great workout.

  5. Step 5

Bring your walking shoes. In a city, you can sightsee, shop, and visit museums or other historic sties. If you're interested in the rugged outdoors, there are plenty of opportunities for hiking or nature walks.

  6. Step 6

Bring along or rent a bicycle on your trip. Remember to wear a helmet for safety's sake.
