After starting a home daycare, the children, as well as yourself, need to be secure. Here are a few tips to ensure the safety of all inside your home.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

One of the most important items needed to make your home daycare secure is a wonderful alarm system. Keep this alarm system on while you are caring for children as crimes are frequent. The best thing about an alarm is that there are specific one touch buttons on the key pad that call the police, fire department, and the hospital, and this is a great feature of security for a home daycare.

  2. Step 2

Next, never have an open house for the public while the children are inside your home. Always hold an open house for potential clients to see the daycare during off hours, and always have a sign it sheet that takes ID number. Also, have one or two other people in your home assisting with the open house as you don't want to be alone.

  3. Step 3

Third, secure your yard with a high fence that onlookers cannot see through. This protects the children from predators who may want to pass by and watch the children as predators are in many neighborhoods.

  4. Step 4

Finally, apply window film to the windows so that when the blinds are open, no one can see inside. The children will also be protected from the UV rays as they will still be able to see outside! Therefore, all the windows can be open, and still the children are safe from onlookers.
