How to Find the Owner of an IP Address or Email

This is how you find out where an email is coming from when the person is sending you threatening emails.

1. Get the person's IP address by looking up the trace route on the emails sent to you. This article is not about getting an IP address, so go read an article on how to do that before you read my article... Once you know the person's IP address, go to any website that promises they can tell you where an email came from.

2. You will the get a google map that shows you where the email is coming from, but there is a margin of error. The margin of error is easily fixed by selecting the bottom right corner of the little house symbol, and then tracing a small line to the bottom until you get to the next main street route just south of where the search engine said the address was.

3. Once you have located the approximate address on the google map, you must try to remember who you know that lives on that street, because a stalker is usually someone who may know you and you know him or her as well. If you don't know anyone who lives on that block, then this article won't help, because you need a subpoena to get the correct address from an IP address, and if you really are being stalked, your lawyer will probably get it anyway.

Tips & Warnings

• It is practically impossible to get the IP address of an email sent from a yahoo email address, it usually just points to San Francisco.
• It is illegal to obtain the exact address on an IP address without a subpoena. This is just an approximate location that my article gives you.
