How to change/create a password for your Windows XP computer

Are you new to Windows XP? Are you unsure how to change/create a password for your computer? You’ve come to the right place!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1
     

    Look to the bottom-left of your screen. On the taskbar you will see the menu/start button; click it.

  2. Step 2
     

    A Windows quick menu will appear on your screen. Look toward the right of the menu for a button that reads “Control Panel”; click it.

  3. Step 3
     

    A Windows quick menu will appear on your screen. Look toward the right of the menu for a button that reads “Control Panel”; click it.

  4. Step 4
     

    A larger menu will appear on your screen in a new window. Look for a link that reads “User Accounts” and click on it. This will take you to a new screen.

  5. Step 5
     

    Now look toward the bottom of the window for an icon that reads “User Accounts”; click it. This will now open new window.

  6. Step 6
     

    Look toward the bottom of the new window where it says “Pick an account to change”. Click your account.

  7. Step 7
     

    A list of option will appear, such as: “Change my name” and “Change my password”. Click “Change my password”.

  8. Step 8
     

    Type your current password and enter the new password you would like to set. Once you are finished, select “Change password” at the bottom-right of the screen.

  9. Step 9

    If you don’t already have a password, you will follow all the steps exactly but instead of clicking “Change
