Want to make stickers? You can make and print your own personal stickers from your own artwork, hand-lettering, computer lettering, photos or clip-art. When making your own stickers, you can use them as kids' gifts, teachers' rewards, party or wedding favors for adults or kids, labels for hand-made products, or as a way to spread the word about a belief, political viewpoint, or business.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Your personal sticker designs: photos, clip art, your own art or wording
  • Sticker paper for home printers or for quick printers(see article)
  • Your own color computer printer or access to a copy service's quick printer
  • Access to a paper cutter.
  • Optional: "Preserve My Memories" spray -- especially if using an inkjet print, access to a color photocopy machine.
  1. Step 1

Get your sticker paper. Office supply stores have label paper in various brands such as Avery. Label paper works if you want standard sized stickers. If you want to cut your own custom sizes, check for sticker paper at a scrapbooking store, or a craft store that has a large scrapbook section.

  2. Step 2

Make sticker images. If you need free online photos or clip-art, search a royalty free source such as stockxpert (http://www.sxc.hu). They offer free images, but don't sell your sticker images as your own if using theirs.

  3. Step 3

Get your sticker design ready to print. Either draw it evenly multiple times onto white 8 1/2 x 11" paper, or from your computer screen, paste it in the label mode, or if making your own custom sizes, paste it evenly multiple times on one page on your computer screen.

  4. Step 4

Make stickers -- copy onto sticker paper. If hand-drawn, make photo copies using your sticker copy paper. If done on a computer, print them out on your own printer with the sticker copy paper. Or, print just one copy out on regular paper, and photocopy your stickers with sticker paper.

  5. Step 5

Make sure your handmade stickers don't run. If printed with your own printer, wait for them to dry, then spray with Preserve Your Memories, because computer printer inks tends to run more than other inks, with laser printers doing a little better. If you photocopied your stickers, however, they are much more moisture resistant and may not need spray.

  6. Step 6

    Cut stickers out when dry.

  7. Step 7

Make sticker "storage." Store your stickers in plastic sandwich bags, or put them in party favor bags or other pretty containers if giving as gifts.
