Things You'll Need:
- Toy blocks
- Simple flash cards
- Sign language book for beginners
- Patience
-
Step 1
Raising a smart baby takes patience and determination. Babies are very receptive to everything that is going on around them. Start right away by engaging and stimulating their little brains with productive play time.
The first step is daily use of simple flash cards. After every meal take out a few flash cards and use them as a game. Start with simple cards with simple pictures, then gradually move to letters and then words. My son is 2 1/2 and he reads three and four letter words. -
Step 2
Next is an extension of play time. Play nice soft music during play time and play with shapes and textures.
-
Step 3
Step 3 is all about communication. this is something that needs to be continuous. Always speak clearly to your baby and Never do "Baby talk" as it will delay their understanding of the words you say.
Also, and this is Huge, start right away by using these three simple signs each time you say the word. Eat, More, Milk (Bottle) Look these simple signs up in a sign language book and use them each time you say the words. You will notice at about 5-6 month that your baby will start using the signs when they are hungry, thirsty, or wants more. -
Step 4
Finally - Read - Read - Read
Be very consistent and read.

on 8/27/2009 I agree that it's very important to read with your children. Spending time with them like you do your son is also important. Glad to hear of someone who is so serious about enjoying and spending time with their kids. Thanks for the article and the friend invite. I rated and recommended you.
