Multitasking used to be one the hot buzz words that you would hear in many different business industries. From freelance writing to corporate America, we were all told that the best way to be productive was to learn how to multitask. I am here to tell you that this is not the case when it comes to your freelance writing career. Multitasking as a freelance writer can be taking money out of your pocket everyday. Now is the time to stop multitasking to make more money freelance writing.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check your email 2 times a day when you are working at your freelance writing. There are freelance writers who leave their email boxes open on their screen so that they can pop over whenever they see a new message. This is not the way to make more money freelance writing. You do not get paid to read your emails. Emails are an important part of your correspondence with clients so you do need to allot time in your day to check your messages, but limit this to two times a day so that you can get more work done.

  2. Step 2

Give yourself 30 minutes each day to read your freelance writing forums and the blogs that you are subscribed to. If you can not catch up on everything that is going on in this amount of time then you need to cut back on how many blogs that you are subscribed to. There is a wealth of information to be had by reading freelance writing blogs. However, you will not get any of your articles written if you spend two hours everyday reading them. Make more money freelance writing by limiting your time with blogs and forums

  3. Step 3

Stop replying to every twitter message that pops up on your screen. Twitter is one of the great social networking tools that many freelance writers use to grow their business and make more money. Use the same method that you do with your email with twitter. Check twitter 2 to 3 times a day to see if there are any messages that you need to reply to or posts that you would like to make. It is important to make sure that you are not trying to keep up with twitter conversations while writing articles. This is multitasking at its worse. Your articles will suffer and the road to make more freelance writing will take a permanent detour if you spend too much time on twitter.
