Things You'll Need:
- Baseball Bat
- Balls
- Batting Cage
-
Step 1
Becoming a better baseball hitter starts with your equipment. Although becoming better doesn't actually involve using top quality equipment, to see better performance come gametime might require you to find a better baseball bat that is fit to you and can drive the ball hard.
-
Step 2
Form is the second most important thing to a batter. Without proper form, not only will hitting the ball be hard, but driving through the ball as well. In order to develop a good form, stand in a comfortable position with your legs about shoulder width apart and bent. Raise your hands backwards almost as your cocking the bat and keep the bat loose in your hands. As you swing forward, take a timing step towards the pitcher and rotate your forearms as you are swinging through the pitch. If done right, the ball should bounce off the bat with as much momentum as possible.
-
Step 3
The most important part of hitting a ball to any hitter is the timing. When hitting a baseball, the timing almost has to be perfect in order to hit it just right. This is why practice in the batting cages can help in learning this time and subconsciously knowing when to swing.
-
Step 4
When in the batting cages, make sure to use an older bat that you would not use in a game as the batting cage can harm aluminum bats and break wooden bats. Practice in all sorts of speeds to get a feel for all different types of pitchers and make sure to practice often.
-
Step 5
It can never hurt to get a batting coach and receive lessons on hitting. A coach can see issues with your form that no other person can and will be able to assist you in correcting these.
