Things You'll Need:
- Stress
- The will to relax
-
Step 1
A great first step in relaxing is realizing that life happens. There are things that are going to happen, out of nowhere, that are out of our control. Jobs will suck, friends will betray you, you will argue with your family, etc. Realizing that they are going to happen sometime, can really help ease the tension when they do occur.
-
Step 2
Something I do whenever I'm really worked up is to breathe. Find a quiet room for about 5 minutes, and sit down. Try and sit nice and straight so your body can be at it's most ideal breathing position. Close your eyes and inhale for a full 10 seconds. Hold the breath for 10 seconds. Then slowly release the breath for 10 seconds. If you can last 5 minutes doing this exercise, you will be amazed how much better your mind and body feel.
-
Step 3
Finally, talk to your loved one. We've all heard that bottling things up inside for too long is not only a good way to stay stressed, but it's also detrimental on the body. You can make yourself physically ill by doing this. When something is really bothering or stressing you out, try to talk it over with your loved one. This also doesn't have to be a person! It sounds dumb, and probably looks even dumber, but talking to your pets is a great way to know that someone cares about you. They can sense when you're down!
