Things You'll Need:
- Internet
-
Step 1
Go to FreeGreen.com and register - it takes two minutes. FreeGreen.com is a relatively new (and award winning) company that is committed to green building. They continue to add free house plans to their library for you to enjoy.
Now that you've joined, you can select the type of house plan that interests you. There's the modern View Box plan for narrow lots, a Comfortable Cape plan that's perfect for beach areas, a Suburban Loft plan, and more. -
Step 2
Once you've selected the plan, tell them which state you live in, and which major city is close by. Why do they need that information? Because they've created climate-specific data for their downloads.
Click Download. -
Step 3
Your download consists of three files: A Drawing Set, a Spec Book, and energy data. All are in .pdf format.
** FreeGreen.com has recently added an Open Source feature to their site, which allows home design companies to make available their own green designs for your to download as well, however most are for a fee (ranging anywhere from $20 to $2500).
