Binge eating disorder is similar to bulimia nervosa. People with this disorder will eat or consume large amounts of food uncontrollably in a very short period of time. They feel shame and a marked distress over their eating habits. Studies suggest that this eating disorder is fairly common. Studies also suggest that people who suffer from Binge Eating Disorder have impulse control problems in other area of the life.

Characteristics of Binge Eating Disorder:
* Eating much faster than normal.
* Eating until feeling uncomfortably full.
* Eating large amounts of food when not feeling hungry.
* Eating alone to avoid being embarrassed about how munch one eats.
* Feeling disgusted with oneself, depressed, or guilty after over eating.
* Significant distress is felt regarding Binge eating.
* A sense of like of control during Binge eating, feeling one can not stop or control how much they eat. -
Step 3
Treatment similar to what is used for bulimia nervosa is used for binge eating disorder. People who suffer with Binge eating disordered turn to food to find confort for failing to be successful in achieving supportive interaction with other people. It can also be symptoms of other underlying problems like abuse. This is a serious condition and will not go away on it's own. Rarely is one able to over come this condition by ones self. Treatment is complex. You should begin by selecting a mental health professional who has experience treating this disorder.
