How to Bake The Perfect Apple Dump Cake
Whether you need to whip up a quick dessert for unexpected company, or are simply looking for something to make with your children, apple dump cake is a fast and easy dessert that requires only a few common pantry ingredients. Things You'll Need
- 9-by-13 inch baking pan
- 2 cans apple pie filling
- Rubber spatula
- 1 box white or yellow cake mix
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- Knife
- Ice cream
- Whipped cream

Preheat the oven to 350 F and lightly grease the 9-by-13 inch baking pan.

Pour the cans of apple pie filling into the baking pan and use the rubber spatula to spread them evenly across the bottom of the pan.

Sprinkle the dry boxed cake mix evenly over the top of the apple pie filling.

Use the knife to cut the sticks of butter into thin slices. Distribute the slices evenly across the top of the dry cake mix. Sprinkle the cinnamon over top of the entire pan. Add any additional ingredients to suit your tastes at this time.

Bake for 30 to 45 minutes at 350 F. Serve hot with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Tips & Warnings
Optional ingredients to sprinkle on top before baking include, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, and 1/4 cup raisins.
Cake mix flavors such as butter pecan, or spice cake add an alternate twist to this recipe.
Other types of canned fruit can be substituted for one or both of the cans of apples for a different combination of flavors.
Apple dump cake can also be made in a Dutch oven for a simple dessert while camping.
