This is a great method for all of you hamburger users out there to make room in your freezer plus get hamburger that dethaws in 5 minutes opposed to several hours wihtout spending hours on orginization. So now those last minute meals do not need to come from the microwave.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large Zip lock freezer storage bags
  • bulk hamburger
  1. Step 1

Purchase hamburger in a bulk quantity and a box of large freezer storage bags. If there is a special go wild you'll have plenty of room and don't worry you won't need hours to devote to organization.

  2. Step 2

Separate your hamburger into equal portions - 1 lb portions works best. -Wash hands.

  3. Step 3

Next lay out one freezer bag for every pound of hamburger you have and place 1 lb hamburger into each bag towards the bottom. Do not seal.

  4. Step 4

Using the palm of your hand press firmly on hamburger in an upward or outward motion. Do this until you have a flat, thin even layer of hamburger that should just about fill up your zip lock bag.

  5. Step 5

Seal your flat freezer storage bag making sure to not leave any air in it and place in the freezer. Stack them in an alternating pattern (top-bottom-top-bottom etc) so that the zipper lines up on every other one. This makes storage and organization so much easier since you do not have to deal with awkward or round packages that are difficult to organize.

  6. Step 6

When you want to dethaw pull out just a few minutes (5-10) before you need the hamburger and place in some cool water keep zipper on freezer storage bag above water level just to be sure no water gets into your hamburger meat.

Before cooking press the dethawed hamburger into a ball while still in the bag and press together. Then you are ready to cook!
