Step 1
Set marketing goals that include daily, weekly, and monthly activities. Marketing is not just the act of placing an ad. It should be an activity that you participate in regularly. For instance it may include writing five articles a week, participating in 10 social sites a week, participating in 20 forums a week. Then break that down into daily activities. All of these actions will lead to sales. Business success has more to do with consistent activity than it does selling the perfect product or service.

Step 2
Set promotion or publicity goals. Spend some of your time branding your business. It may only be 30 minutes a day, but some of your business time should be devoted to getting the word out. Perhaps you will spend that time writing press releases or pitches to editors and producers. Some of this time should also be used in follow-up calls.

Step 3
Be sure that you are staying on top of sales coming in and money going out to support your business. Then set financial goals as to where you want your business to be in a month, and then in a year. How many more products will you need to sell in order to meet that goal? Then plan your marketing, publicity, and advertising around that goal. Just like any other goal, if you write it down, plan for it, and then put it into action you have a great chance of making it happen.
