Dog Treats - cut and frozen
Dog Treats - cut and frozen

These garlic and liver dog treats are cheap and easy. Much healthier than commercial and since they are freezable they last a long time. You can also customize them to your dog's taste!

Not only are these treats good for dogs, they are also good for cats as well. These are great for training since they smell wonderful! (At least to the animals!)

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 pkg Cornbread mix
  • 1 lb Chicken or Beef Liver
  • 1 Tblsp Minced garlic
  • Flour
  • Egg & Milk (optional)
  1. Step 1

Prepare the cornbread mix as directed - omit eggs and milk if your pet has any food allergies. I like Jiffy brand best.

  2. Step 2

Using a blender, puree the liver and add to the cornbread mixture.

  3. Step 3

Add more flour until mixture has a thicker consistency(I prefer to use wheat flour). The consistency should be the same as the original cornbread mix.

  4. Step 4

Add the minced garlic. This step is optional. Some dogs do not handle garlic well - but my dog LOVES it!

  5. Step 5

Bake according to the cornbread instructions.

  6. Step 6

Allow to cool and then cut into treat-sized pieces. Freeze the treats and defrost as needed.

Tips & Warnings
  • I like to make three batches at once since they freeze so well!
  • Cats also like these treats.
  • I like to bake these on the outdoor grill and use disposable baking pans.
  • You can add any additional ingredients to these that your dog likes.
  • Keep the treats frozen/refrigerated until ready to eat.
