Things You'll Need:
- Leather work gloves
- Cardboard Box
- Towel
- Broom
-
Step 1
Close the door to there room where the bat is. While you're at it, close all the other doors in the house to limit where the bat can go if it escapes the room.
-
Step 2
Turn on the light. The bat will soon look for a place to land. Sometimes the bat lands so quickly you can't see where it went.
-
Step 3
Locate where the bat has landed. They like to hang upside down under window sills, an overhang or the corner where the ceiling meets the wall.
-
Step 4
Now put on your gloves. Place a cardboard box under the bat and gently brush the bat from his roost. Close the box or cover it with a towel. If the bat misses the box, gently pick it up using gloves.
-
Step 5
Carry the box outside the house and set the bat free. Don't kill it - bats benefit people by eating pesky insects.
-
Step 6
Finally, go back and find out where the bat got into the room in the first place. Bats can squeeze through very small cracks. Check for loose window screens and other gaps.

on 2/23/2009 I had a old bat in my house several times, and I got rid of her by telling her I had a contagious disease.
