Make gluten free chocolate oreo truffles the easy way! These taste just like the OREO truffles, but I use Glutano chocolate cookies instead.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 pkgs (6.2 oz each) Glutano brand Chocolate O's
  • 1 pkg (8 oz) Cream cheese, softened
  • 1 pkg (11 or 12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips, or baking squares
  1. Step 1

Take your cookies and place them in a food processor and finely crush them (include the cookie and cream center). Crush all the cookies from both boxes. Measure 3 cups, and save any remaining crumbs for later.

  2. Step 2

Place 3 cups finely crushed cookie crumbs into a mixing bowl and add the softened cream cheese. Blend together well. Shape into 40 1-inch balls. Refrigerate 1 hour, or freeze overnight.

  3. Step 3

Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir until all the chocolate is melted. Take the chocolate balls and dip them into the melted chocolate. Roll them around until completely covered, then remove and place on waxed paper-covered baking sheet.
Another twist on this is to roll the balls in the remaining crushed cookies - they'll look like mud balls, which the kids might get a kick out of!

  4. Step 4

You can decorate the chocolate balls with GF non-pariels, colored sugar or melted vanilla chips squeezed through a plastic freezer baggie snipped at the end (very small hole). Create a zig-zag effect to hide imperfections.

  5. Step 5

Refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm. Store leftovers in a tightly covered container in the refrigerator.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have a very sensitive gluten allergy, make sure all ingredients are gluten free. You can find these products in most health food stores, or in the health food section of most grocery stores.
