Step 1
Update or get your resume together. First things first you need to update your resume if you were just laid off. If you do not have a resume you need to make one ASAP. Word programs have templates you can use & fill in the blanks, also utilize the internet to check out some sample resumes that can give you ideas on formats. There are services out there that charge you to make a resume this might be a good option for you if you do not have time or are having trouble getting responses from your resume.

Use multiple online job resources. Usually your state will have an employment website register and get going on this. CareerBuilder.com or Monster.com are also good resources for your search. Use Craigslist! Employers are utilizing craigslist more frequently, visit often and you can also post your resume.

Write a Cover Letter. This is huge and your best opportunity to put yourself apart from other candidates. You can start out by getting a generic Cover letter and then tailor it to each job you apply for. Do a cover letter even if they do not require it, makes you look very interested in the position applying for.
