Do a Background Check Online

It's easy to learn how to do a background check online. Get criminal records, divorce records, research an employee or nanny, do a little fact checking before you get too intimate with someone or decide to do business with them. Here's how to do a background check online.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Some personal information
  • Access to an online public records search service
  1. Step 1

First, to do a background check, you want to try to find out if there is something the individual is hiding or lying about. Do this by dropping some personal questions in normal conversation, such as "how long have you lived here," or "where did you go to school?"

  2. Step 2

Next, gather the information you need to do a background check online. This can include phone numbers, addresses, date of birth, and so on. The more information you have, the easier it will be to run your background check.

  3. Step 3

Once you have all your information, access a public records database (see resources below) to search for the individual in question. Here you'll be able to get very detailed information on the background of an individual, including any criminal records, previous addresses, sex offender records, martial records, and more.

  4. Step 4

While you have access to public records database, do a little research on your family tree. You may just find some interesting information about your history that you never knew before.
