Things You'll Need:
- Professionalism

- Confidence
- Speaking Your Mind
- Exercising Tact
- Ethics
- Non-Guilt

Step 1
Discounts - There isn't anything wrong with giving good clients discounts from time to time, however, it is wrong for a client to constantly hint around for you to lower rates continuously. Never allow a client to make you experience guilt if they start to claim they cannot afford your rates.
-
Step 2
Payment - What do you do when a client says they will give you half your payment up front and the other half two weeks from the day you complete the project? I would advise against this. The last time I recalled, mortgage companies don't allow clients to pay half the mortgage the first of the month and the remainder of the balance at the end of the month, why should your business be any different? Stand firm, professionally point out reasons why you deserve to be compensated for your time. Clients will eventually see your point and stop trying to take advantage once you speak with them.

Step 3
Legal Contracts - With any business, you should provide your client with a legally binding contract pertaining to certain terms and agreements so there are no discrepancies.
