Once you learn how to make this sauce it can become the "base" for so many different recipes, just use your imagination. You can make Olive Gardens Fettuccine Alfredo just add parmesan cheese, garlic, onion, to the cream sauce. Make Asparagus over wheat toast and cream sauce, sausage and gravy over biscuits and the list goes on. Experiment have fun.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • butter
  • flour
  • milk
  • salt/pepper
  1. Step 1

    Turn the stove on medium heat, let the skillet warm-up, add 3 Tablespoons of butter. Let the butter melt but don't burn.

  2. Step 2

    As the butter melt than gradually add 3 Tablespoons of flour stir until it makes a little paste.

  3. Step 3

    gradually add in 3/4 cup of whole or skim milk stir until sauce is smooth. Add salt and pepper to taste. Optional garlic powder, onion powder.

  4. Step 4

    Optional: add parmesan cheese to sauce stir and Pour over already prepared fettuccine while still hot or pour over cooked asparagus and wheat toast.

Tips & Warnings
  • add more or less milk for the thickness you want
  • do not leave sauce while cooking
  • continue to stir
  • season with salt and pepper to taste
