An Amaretto Sour is an alcoholic beverage that tastes, if made properly, pleasantly sweet with an added sour bite. The almond flavor of the Amaretto Liquor blends beautifully with the added sour mix and citrus fruits to make this mild alcoholic beverage. Some bartenders prefer to make this drink with either oranges, lemons or cherries, but personally I prefer to use all three of these fruits. If you're looking for an "I can barely taste the alcohol" drink that you can pace yourself with, this is, in my opinion, your best (most pleasant-tasting) choice.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 8-10 oz. Old Fashioned "Rocks" Glass
  • 2 parts Amaretto Liquor (Disaronno preferred)
  • 1 part Whiskey Sour Mixer
  • Splash of Sprite
  • 1 Lemon Wedge
  • 1 Orange Slice (Finely Sliced)
  • 3 Maraschino Cherries
  • Ice
  1. Step 1

Fill your glass halfway with ice. Instead of doing exact measurements we're going to eyeball it (as glass sizes vary).

  2. Step 2

Fill the glass 1/2 of the way with the Amaretto. Amaretto is a mild liquor so no, this is not too much.

  3. Step 3

Fill the rest of the glass with the sour mixer. Leave about 1/4-1/2 inch of space at the top of the glass.

  4. Step 4

Squeeze the lemon juice from 1 wedge into the glass. Discard the wedge. Add 2-3 cherries (or more if you like).

  5. Step 5

Add a splash of sprite. Stir the drink contents (in the glass or in a shaker, it really doesn't matter since it's a 2-part drink).

  6. Step 6

Cut the orange slice in half and dress the top of the glass. Enjoy responsibly!

Tips & Warnings
  • You can vary the amount of liquor you use to suit your own tastes. Some like this drink a little stronger, while others prefer a more sour flavor.
  • This is an alcoholic beverage. Please enjoy responsibly. Don't drink and drive.
