How to Make your iTunes Music Have the Same Volume
Have you found yourself frustrated by songs with inconsistent music volume in iTunes? This eHow article will show you how to use a somewhat less-known feature of iTunes that analyzes your music and makes the songs all have the same volume. Read on!

1
Open iTunes on your machine by clicking on the iTunes icon.

Once the music library loads, go to Edit --> Preferences --> Playback --> Sound Check. iTunes will then analyze your music library and attempt to make every song play at the same volume. It will take a relatively long amount of time, especially if you have a large music library, but be patient! This will save you from those moments where you had the volume cranked up to listen to a quiet song, and then a heavy metal song came on and blew out your eardrums.

Sometimes the iTunes Sound Check option doesn't do enough for the disparity. There are a few other ways you can increase or decrease the volume of songs. If there's one specific track that's bothering you, right-click on it, click on "Get Info", and go to the "Options" tab. You will see a slider here called "Volume Adjustment." Sliding the slider to the left will make the song more quiet, and sliding it to the right will make the song louder.

If that still isn't enough, you can download Audacity at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. Once you open the software, go to File --> Open and load the music file you want to work with. Highlight the entire song by clicking and dragging the mouse over the entire waveform, then go to the Effects tab on the top --> Amplify. From this tab, you can amplify the sound as much as possible without distortion, and there's an option in the box that allows you to amplify to the point of great distortion. Have fun!
