You will be able to change the drain on the garden tub drain

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tub drain wrench
  • plumber' s putty
  1. Step 1

First you look down the drain hole on the tub, get your tub drain wrench and line up the cross on the tool with the cross on the tub drain.

  2. Step 2

Turn the tub drain wrench counter clockwise to loosen the drain, if the drain is hard to turn use the piece of pipe for extension, slide it on to the handle and turn it slowly cause you have to break the water tight seal.

  3. Step 3

Roll up some plumbers putty like gummy worm and on top of the drain hole close to the inner edge, make sure nothing fall into the drain hole.

  4. Step 4

Install the drain piece and tighten it by hand, make sure you don't cross the thread

  5. Step 5

Use the tub drain wrench to tighten the drain down then clean up the excess plumbers putty from around the new drain cover.

  6. Step 6

If you have the pop up drain, just hold the pop up and turn it counter clockwise to loose it. Then you fit the drain wrench to the cross bars inside the drain.

Tips & Warnings
  • When you try to loosen the drain, turn the handle real slow to loosen it, if you turn it hard it might break the cross off
  • If you over tighten the drain it will squeeze out the rubber seal under the tub's drain hole
