Oatmeal baths can relieve itchy skin naturally.

Someone suffering from itchy, irritated skin may turn to skin treatments like lotions or oils for itch relief. But if you’ve got sensitive skin, topical treatments with chemical ingredients may inflame your skin more, leading to more itching. Relieve itchy skin naturally with skin treatments created with items found around your house. Consider these simple methods to soothe and relieve itchy skin naturally.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Create a baking soda paste as an easy skin treatment to relieve itchy skin naturally. Add drops of distilled or filtered water until the baking soda forms a thick paste, then slather it over skin irritations like bug bites. A little baking soda can also be added to your bath water as natural skin care.

  2. Step 2

Try a mixture of coconut oil and lemon juice as a natural skin care treatment to apply to itchy skin. The blend is known to soothe the itching temporarily.

  3. Step 3

Rub small patches of red, itchy skin with a long leaf snipped from an Aloe Vera plant. Apply the moisture that comes from the cut edge directly on your skin to relieve itchy skin naturally. The plant’s Vitamin E content can also help heal damaged skin.

  4. Step 4

Consider taking an old fashioned milk bath with dry oatmeal sprinkled in as a natural skin care treatment. Soaking in the mixture will bring itch relief and soothe skin that’s been inflamed by constant itching. Oatmeal can also be added to a regular bath of lukewarm water as a skin treatment. After your bath, smooth on a thin layer of petroleum jelly to “seal in” the moisture.

  5. Step 5

Prevent drying your skin excessively, particularly in winter with forced air heating, by using a humidifier to add moisture to your home and staying hydrated by drinking at least eight glasses of water each day. Also avoid taking hot baths, which may feel soothing, but also dry your skin, leading to additional itching.
