Step 1
Know how to do ollies and backside 180s (see Related eHows).
-
Step 2
Find a low, double-sided object (such as a curb or a parking block) to learn this trick.
-
Step 3
Approach the object frontside (with your chest toward it), and ollie turning about 90 degrees backside (so you land sideways on the middle of your board with your back facing the way you were rolling).
-
Step 4
Keep your head and shoulders facing where you want to land. Don't lean too far forward or backward; try to stay straight over your board as much as possible to help control the slide.
-
Step 5
When you near the end of the obstacle, turn the board back the way you came by pressing down on the tail a bit as you turn your board frontside with your feet, and return to being parallel with the object as you come off it.

on 1/14/2007 keep you balance- When you are sliding, make sure that you weight is centered over the centre of the board, This will make it easier to keep your balance.

on 11/22/2005 When attempting a frontside boardslide.... keep your shoulders square to the object your grinding... Make sure your shoulders do not rotate the 90 as then you will be blind to the object.. this will cause you more slams and injuries.... So if you do not rotate the soulders you will be less likely to Slam !

on 11/22/2005 When your are actually sliding on the rail and you lean back too far (which you will when you first try it), try to fall back away from the rail.
Head + metal rail = hurt

on 11/22/2005 Try performing an axle stall before boardsliding until you know that you have the rotation right. When you start to boardslide, do not ollie so the trucks go completely to the other side of the rail, or your board will snap! Instead, try to ollie just high enough to get the trucks over the rail. Then push down on the end of the board in which you want to even your slide. Another thing--don't be scared to do it, and if you think you're gonna get it wrong, BAIL!
