Making a backup copy of your MP3 files from your computer to an external storage device such as a DVD disc will prepare you for unexpected data loss in case your system crashed. Burning MP3 files to a DVD is very easy using a DVD burner software. In this article, I'll show you how to do it using Nero Essentials. Here's how:

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Open your Nero StartSmart Essentials program. Once the software loads, you will be shown task options. Click the drop-down box on the top part of the window. Choose "DVD".

    • 2

There are icons on the bottom of the drop-down box. Go to the third icon from the left which says "Audio" then click the "Create Jukebox DVD" option. This will allow you to create a data disc from your audio files (in this case the MP3 files stored in your computer) which can be played back on your PC and on DVD players that support MP3 file audio format.

Add MP3 files you'd like to burn by clicking on the "Add" button. The "Add files and folders" dialog box will show up. Browse the files you want to add. Notice on the bottom of the window, there is a meter as to how many files you can add before reaching the maximum number of MP3 files to burn. Once you are done adding the files, click "Next" button.

You will be required to set your final burn settings. Name the DVD disc you want to burn and specify the number of copies you want to make. Insert an empty recordable DVD disc into your computer's drive then click "Burn" button to proceed.

Depending on your computer's speed, the burning process may take several minutes. When you are done, label the DVD disc and keep it in a safe place.

Tips & Warnings

  • Close other programs running in your computer to speed up the disc burning.
