Things You'll Need:
- manure
- potting soil
- compost
- garden shovel
- water
- pot
-
Step 1
place in direct sunlightFirst of all you need to pick a pot, that is suited for your rose bushes. It needs to be big enough so that the roots can be spread out as much as possible. This container should have adequate drainage and be placed in an area with plenty of sun.
-
Step 2
Every type of rose can be grown in pots except maybe for the big climbing variety. They should be left to the trellises, and frankly they look better there anyway
-
Step 3
I like to use potting soil ,compost and manure in my pots . This is a great mixture because roses like a loamy soil and this mixture drains well. Fill the conatiner a bout 3/4 full. mound up dirt in center. Spread the roots down over this mound.
-
Step 4
fill the remainder of the container with the rest of your mixture, be sure to leave the bud union above ground. water thoroughly and add more soil as it will settle. Keep checking soil with your finger as it will dry out quickly if you don't keep it watered.
-
Step 5
Prune your roses bush to about 8" oon each cane then let it grow, ck fo insects and treat accordingly. Always feed your bush with a rose food supplement. I like to use Miracle Grow for Roses. Check out my resources below for links to my favorite garden supplier. low prices
