Step 1
Getting regular oil changes and tune ups is not only a great way to improve gas mileage it will also improve your cars performance and increase its lifespan.
-
Step 2
Check your tire pressure every time you fuel up. Make sure the tires are inflated to the suggested pressure listed on the inside of the driver side door frame. This can also save you money by extending the life of your tires.
-
Step 3
Use cruise control when traveling long distances on the highway. Again this will also help keep your car running longer (Noticing a trend).
-
Step 4
Make an effort to accelerate slower. Nailing the gas every time the light turns green is not only a great way to waste gas it isn't likely to shorten your trips to the grocery store, but will probably shorten the life of your car.
-
Step 5
Buy a GPS. GPS have the ability to calculate the shortest route, and the shorter the distance you travel the less gas you will use.
-
Step 6
Buy a scooter. Scooters get great gas mileage and are relatively cheap to purchase and maintain. The downside is most scooters are not allowed on the highway (for good reason) and if you live in anywhere with winters you will only be able to use it part of the year.
Buy a hybrid car. If you buy a hybrid car you will be doing it for the environment and not your wallet, but there is nothing wrong with that if you can afford it.
